一、如豆灯火

木铎金声，清越悠扬。国民教育，兹事体大。

1902年12月17日，京师大学堂师范馆首期学生开学，中国高等师范教育在山河破碎的华夏大地上萌芽。

December17th，1902，sawthebirthofteachertraininginChina'shighereducationinhardtimes;thefirststudentsenteredtheEducationDepartmentofImperialUniversityofPeking.

从京师优级师范学堂到北京高师，再到1923年国立北京师范大学成立，一代先驱弘扬“教育为国家命脉，师范为教育胚胎”理念，布道传薪，振铎兴庠。

FromtheSupremeEducationSchoolofPekingtotheAdvancedEducationSchoolofPeking，andtotheNationalBeijingNormalUniversityin1923，generationsofpioneerspromotedtheidea—Education，vitalsofthenation;teachers，budsofeducation.Guidedbythis，theydevotedalltohigh-qualityteachertraining.

1937年，在抗日战争全面爆发的烽火中，北平大学、北平师范大学、北洋工学院和北平研究院受命西迁，设立西安临时大学。后迁汉中、城固一带，改称“西北联合大学”，这是西北首座国立综合大学，与名声赫赫的西南联大并称双子，同样群星闪耀。

In1937，atthesurgeoftheWarofResistanceagainstJapaneseAggression，PekingUniversity，PekingNormalUniversity，PeiyangCollegeofEngineeringandNationalPekingResearchInstitute，movedwestward，andweremergedintoXi’anTemporaryUniversity.ItlaterturnedintoNationalNorthwestAssociatedUniversityinChenggu，ShaanxiProvince.ItisthefirstcomprehensivenationaluniversityinNorthwestChina，asrenownedasNationalSouthwestAssociatedUniversity.

并序连黉，卌载燕都迥。联辉合耀，文化开秦陇。

After40yearsofhardworkinBeijing，thefourinstitutionsjointlyinitiatedhighereducationinNorthwestChina.

1939年，由原北平师范大学构成的西北联大教育学院，组建为国立西北师范学院。

OriginatingfromPekingNormalUniversity，theEducationCollegeofNationalNorthwestAssociatedUniversityturnedintoNationalNorthwestNormalCollegein1939.

1941年，作为北平师范大学的递嬗与继承，为西北之发展、民族之复兴，国立西北师范学院在兰州设立永久校址，发展为西北最大的文化堡垒。

In1941，NationalNorthwestNormalCollegeevolvedfromPekingNormalUniversity，settledinLanzhouandturneditselfintoaprominentculturalcenter，contributingtothedevelopmentofNorthwestChinaandtherejuvenationoftheChinesenation.

存续薪火，吾道西行。师生们徒步翻越巍峨秦岭，筚路蓝缕，重整黉舍。艰苦卓绝的大迁徙，见证着西迁师生们教育救国的拳拳信念。

ClimbingovertheQinlingMountainswhilesurmountingallhardshipsanddifficulties，studentsandscholarsventuredwestwardandbuiltanewcampus—thearduousjourneytoldoftheirdeterminationtosavethenationthrougheducation.

“坝上长夜，七星灯火”—照耀着一代知识青年们的艰辛征途，激荡着一代师生们矢志不渝的家国情怀。

“拓荒西北，弘扬教化”—振铎长河，让师范精神得以发扬光大，这次西迁不啻为中国高等教育史上的一次“长征”。

二、掌灯西北

II.NorthwestBeacon

大漠孤烟，长河落日。知术欲圆，行旨须直。

ThefeaturesofthewestdesertsandthegreatriverinspiredtheUniversity'smotto：Study，toseekwisdom.Practice，asmodelsofintegrity.

在黄河岸边的一片荒滩上，西北师范学院师生们艰苦备尝，从一挑土、一担水开始，亲手设计、缔造校园，让教育的火种在西北大地向下扎根、向上生长。

OnabarrenlandbytheYellowRiver，studentsandscholarsdesignedandbuiltthecampusfromscratch，rootingtheseedsandbearingthefruitsofhighereducationhere.

从此，西北师大人浸润着大河气质，滋养着西北品格，与这片黄土地血脉相连。

Sincethen，theUniversity，nurturedbythespiritoftheriverandtheland，hasgainedbravery，perseveranceandtoleranceinitspersonality.

1949年8月，在解放兰州的号角中，获得新生的西北师范大学将“为党和人民办大学”作为崇高使命，成为“人民教师的摇篮”。

UpontheliberationofLanzhouinAugust，1949，NorthwestNormalCollegebuiltitselfintothe"CradleofPeople'sTeachers"withthenoblemissionto"runtheuniversityforthePartyandthepeople".

西北有高楼，上与浮云齐。

NorthwestNormalUniversityranksamongthetopuniversitiesinNorthwestChina.

聚“公诚勤朴”之士，奉“掌灯而立”之职，扛“弘文励教”之鼎。

TheUniversityheldoutstandingtalentstogether，andperformeditspivotingroleineducationinNorthwestChina.

自肇基之日始，张百熙、李蒸、黎锦熙等一代先贤高瞻远瞩，确立了百廿师大的精神海拔。

Sinceitsinception，ZhangBaixi，LiZheng，LiJinxiandotherscholarsandprofessorswithgreatvisionhavescaledthespiritualheightoftheUniversity.

中华人民共和国成立后，历任校领导班子不负使命，砥砺前行，延揽大批名师，令学校群星璀璨、人才济济。

SincethefoundingofthePeople'sRepublicofChinain1949，allthesuccessiveadministrationsoftheUniversityhavemadeacontinuousendeavortoadvancethedevelopmentbyinvitingprominenttalents.

改革开放中，西北师范大学高擎师范大旗，培桃育李，让陇原大地塬峁芬芳。

Withtheimplementationofthereformandopening-uppolicy，theUniversityupholdingteachereducationasitsnoblestmission，hasproducednumerousqualifiedteachersforNorthwestChina.

迈入新时代，西北师范大学率先开展“新师范”教育创新行动，开启师范教育新篇章。
